Day 3 3/8/26

The first stop on our Sunday bus tour was the church of Basillica de la Santa Cruz del Valley De Los Caidos. The churches historical significance can be traced back to the Spanish civil war, as the church became the resting place of almost 34,000 of the causalities from this war. The church was so immensely beautiful and moving to the point where it brought a few of us to tears. 

As a Christan I felt so close to God, and it was probably one of the most moving moments of my life. The church also had a cross above it which stood over four hundred feet tall, making it the tallest cross in the world.  The church was also craved into the side of the mountain that the cross stood on which made it not only beautiful inside but also insanely pretty on the outside. After the church we hopped back on the bus and headed to Segovia.

Before going into the city of Segovia, we went and saw a castle also referred to as Alcazar to take a few pictures. Then we headed into Segovia to see the ancient aqueducts built by the Romans in the first century. The aqueducts were extremely impressive, and the city was full of cute shops, food and more.  The group walked and explored Segovia for a few hours, getting food, shopping, and admiring all the beautiful buildings and culture. After our time in Segovia, we went back to the castle to take a closer look. We walked through some of the rooms and our tour guide Paloma told us about the history of the Castel, and those who lived there. A few hours later we hopped back on the bus to head to a soccer game. The match was very lively and really showed how important soccer is in Spanish culture. After that the group spilt up, went to dinner, and hung out the rest of the night.
